I am linking up to Sweet Shop Tuesday.  Vacation has been wonderful & oh so not glamourous so don't be jealous!  The boys & I are doing a whole lot of camping in Mears, MI, home of Silver Lake Dunes.  This was my childhood vacation growing up & to this day I love a good rush of speed in a dune buggy & the smell of racing fumes & the sight of orange flags on every vehicle!

My husband also vacationed at the Dunes.  We may have gone to the same location but our experience was very different.  Here's a few examples.

I camped..... in a tent.
He lodged in hotels & cottages.
I went on the dunes.
He didn't.
I ate every meal at the campsite or out of the cooler on the dunes.
He ate in local restaurants.
I entertained myself in the sand.
He swam at the hotel pool.
I entertained myself in the sand.
He played mini golf!

We laugh our heads off about how we were at the same place but never even did the same things!
I didn't even know a restaurant existed up there until I was an adult!  I probably couldn't see because my french braids were so tight I couldn't see straight, I had goggles on and a bandana neatly tied around my nose and mouth to keep the sand out!  I never had a chance to see what was around my as I was riding down the drag inhaling racing fumes the whole way!

So now with my boys, we eat out.... way to much!  Consume too much ice cream at the local ice cream shop.... every single night!  Play rounds of putt-putt golf.  Drive Go Karts like we are pros!

But we also go on adventures, explore the campsite on daily stick hunts, daily fires ( no matter the heat index), swim at the campground pool, hang clothes on the line, take bike rides, swim in Lake Michigan, make camping friends & widdle sticks.

This picture was taken on our 5 hour drive up the coast.  I made a turn into an up hill sub to do a turn around and came across a wooden sign that said "Glen Park" .  It was nailed to 2 wooden posts.  Nothing fancy.  The boys weren't thrilled that the park was only a dirt turn around.  But I knew that was more, so we put the truck in park and ventured out.  There were "steps" leading down into the woods, the sun shining through the trees.  There were bridges and benches.  Wishing wells & a stream.  On one of the bridges I saw this carved in.  "Climb A Tree".

Take a moment out of the daily summer routine and relax & "Climb A Tree"!
